Kenneth N. Pontikes

March 15, 1940 - June 24, 1994

Ken Pontikes, the "Ken" of Kenny's Kids, was born on the South Side of Chicago to parents who emigrated from Greece. The Southern Illinois University graduate founded Comdisco, Inc in 1969 and was the CEO and Chairman of the Board at the time of his passing.

Ken believed opportunities for personal growth and success were everywhere and that sometimes people, especially children, needed assistance overcoming life's obstacles. Ken quietly supported nonprofit organizations focused on improving the lives of underprivileged youth and their families. He also funded scholarships, technology programs, and community initiatives aimed at empowering at-risk youth to be self-sufficient and thriving members of their community.

Ken never forgot where and how he grew up. He believed in "paying it forward" long-before that phrase even existed.

In addition to building a multi-billion dollar Fortune 500 company, Ken raised three children, Nick, Vicki, and Melissa. Through his actions, his children witnessed and experienced the power of giving back. Today, Ken's daughters continue his legacy with the multi-generational leadership of Kenny's Kids.
